Dear Editor,

This is a real story about a local family that moved to Amory 12 years ago. In that time this woman and her two daughters have had four dogs. Having four different dogs didn't happen because they felt like upgrading every couple of years, it happened because of circumstances out of their control, but in the control of rude, uncaring people that live somewhere within the community.

Their first dog, was a gift from relatives up north. While they went back up north to visit their relatives, just for a weekend, someone went into their backyard and shot the dog. Now comes dog number two...as they were living on the outskirts of town, they were in the yard playing with their dog, that was playing at the edge of the yard, and a pick-up truck actually swerved into the ditch, hit the dog and kept going. They didn't even stop to see if they killed the dog or how they were all reacting. Let's go to dog #3. Another person swerved into their yard and hit and killed that one. Let's fast forward to Tuesday, the 20th. As their beautiful black lab was in the front yard, someone came by a stole it, while they were in the house. I know that this community is known as a Christian Community. I also know that many people are thinking, "So What", "It's just a dog,” but it is a family member. Why do people dump their dogs in ditches if they don't want them or just shoot them if they seem to bother them. I have never in my life seen anything like this. I expect some people to respond rudely about this. Please use your "Christian values" and start caring about family pets and what they mean to young children growing up with them. Show some respect!

To the person that took this dog, please return it. You can even drop her off at the end of the block that you removed her from because she knows her way home. Please do the right thing.

Unfortunately, we live in a society now that has no morals. It's too easy to plead stupid and get away with it. We have allowed in crooked people to protect and serve us. Now that's a joke! I have a chihuahua and would be terribly upset if someone did that to him. I'm talking hunt them down. It doesn't pay to be the good guy anymore.
