Cora Stoddard
ABERDEEN – Cora Catherine Price Stoddard, 70, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, at her home in Aberdeen. She was born May 3, 1939, to William Price and Eva Plunkett Price in Aberdeen. A lifelong resident of Aberdeen, she was a seamstress for Sharp Garment and South Monroe Sportswear.
Services were at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. Robert Earl Fowlkes officiating. Burial was in New Prospect Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Delores Funderburk and husband, Gary, of Aberdeen; one son, Danny Neal Stoddard and wife, Viola, of Aberdeen; two brothers, Bobby Price and wife, Ann, of Athens and Billy Price and wife, Shirley, of Wren; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bobby Neal Stoddard; a sister, Dorothy Kimbhal; and a brother, Leroy Price.
Margaret Pennington
HAMILTON – Margaret Tharessa Whitaker Pennington, 87, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory. She was born Sept. 21, 1921, to Tilman Whitaker and Lena Williams Whitaker in Monroe County. She was a lifelong resident of Monroe County and a member of Bartahatchie Baptist Church. She was a retired seamstress for Glen Manufacturing.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. George Collins officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Bettie Sue Light and husband, Raymond, of Hopewell, Va.; one son, Rayborn Pennington and wife, Barbara, of Hamilton; one sister, Lauferee Pennington of Hamilton; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harwood Pennington, and her parents.
Pallbearers will be Gregg Pennington, Randy Elton, Mike Goode, Chad Light, Robert Blair and Jay Lee Pennington.
Catherine Poole
SMITHVILLE – Catherine Ebenthal Poole, 67, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at her home. She was born July 23, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Frank Joseph and Anna Roberts Ebenthal. Living in Smithville for 36 years, she worked at Monroe Trousers for a number of years and sat with the elderly before retiring. A member of the Trace Road Baptist Church, she was active in the Senior Saints and enjoyed church activities. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Smithville with Bro. Jamie Stark officiating. Burial will be in the Pearce Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors include the father of her children, Alfred Poole of Smithville; three daughters, Shelia Chism and Christy Montet of Smithville and Donna Williams of Red Bay, Ala.; one sister, Marie Phillips of Smithville; six grandchildren, Landon, Ashley, April and Malcolm Williams, Kyle Montet and Josh Chism; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Frank and Tommy Ebenthal.
Pallbearers will be Paul Estis, Michael Morris and her grandsons.
Marie Kent
NETTLETON – Marie P. Kent, 77, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton.
