The original James Creek Methodist Church will be moved from its home on Darracott Road to the property of the Adams-French home beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday.
According to Adams-French owner Dwight Stevens, the church will travel down Darracott road to Frontage Road where it will then enter Hwy 45. From Hwy 45 it will travel to Chestnut Street to Commerce Street. Once on Commerce Street, it will stop briefly for a ceremony before turning onto North Meridian Street where Stevens' property is located.
"We are going to have a New Orleans-style jazz parade when the church gets downtown, Stevens said. "We want to encourage everyone to come out and participate."
Stevens said he hopes the building moving will have very little disruption on the area.
The Aberdeen Police Department and the Monroe Count Sheriff's Office will be assisting with traffic during the move.
James Creek Methodist Church was built in 1904.
